my usb mixer isn't vista compatible and they don't offer new drivers to make it compatible. can i go from vista to xp on my laptop so i can record again? my computer doesn't even recognize the mixer when i put the usb cable in.

some of your hardware may be vista specific but usually you can dual boot XP at the least.

Search "Vista XP dual boot guide" on google. It should give you more than a few links.

not necessarily. Try getting a line 6 recording product to work on a vista computer.

They've even set up a subforum for it on their website. It's a hit/miss thing with certain things.

Delete Vista and get XP. Quite possible.

I've got some hardware that doesn't work with Vista but works with XP. I just don't care for the hardware, so I'm not going back to XP. However, dual booting...

Not possible at all, seeing as his computer came with Vista and all his hardware will have only Vista drivers and may only be compatible with Vista.

if they exist.

the newest hardware will have been made to specifically work with vista and so they won't have bothered with making XP drivers.

Yeah? Maybe you're doing it wrong? I play games that are meant for Windows 98 on my Vista machine. After you install it (it might say it wasn't installed properly) right click on it and pick virtual machine. It will work. If I can run Roller Coaster Tycoon (the original one and the expansions) you should be able to run anything XP can.

All my Line 6 stuff works on Vista, you just simply download and install the Vista compatible versions for free of the Line 6 website.

everyone else seems to have a problem with it. Or maybe it's that only the people who have a problem with it voice their experiences.

My point is that there are certain hardware exceptions to the Vista runs XP stuff general rule.

So have I. But there are exceptions. 99% of software will work on vista. 99% of hardware will work on vista but there's always going to be the exceptions.

I suppose so, but usually the major brand software will work.

If you are willing to face any possible consequences that you might encounter with drivers or whatnot, it's possible to delete Vista and intall XP. You would have to pay for the full software costs as an upgrade would make no sense.

But I would not recommend it.
