Lucky

She said "Hey, before I go
I just want you to know
That everything I said to you
Was nothing less than truth
But sometimes things just change
And no one is to blame
Cause sometimes the flame...
It just burns right out"

Now, to him, that's just absurd
But he doesn't say a word
Just gathers up his things and waves goodbye
Just turns out the lights and says goodnight
Cause what else can you do
When you find a love that's true
And it turns out to be a lie?
Just turn out the lights and say goodnight

We all want the beautiful sunlight
To shine down with an endless supply
But how would we ever appreciate
The clearest and bluest of skies

Without dark days as a reminder
That we're lucky we've made it this far
Yeah, we're here, so let's not take for granted
How lucky we really are

On and on it goes
Where it stops, well who knows?
"But it's gotta stop somewhere!"
Is what they tell him when they all pretend to care
But he can't be so sure
He knows that's not always true
He's seen it happen before
But never from this point of view (until now)

Yeah, he fell and he jumped for joy
But the parachute failed to deploy
And in the last few seconds of his life,
He thinks of the people he'll leave behind
They'll say, "he did not deserve this
He never knew how special he was!
No, he did not deserve this!"
But really, who ever does?

We all want the beautiful sunlight
To shine down with an endless supply
But how would we ever appreciate
The clearest and bluest of skies

Without dark days as a reminder

Yeah, we're here, so let's not take for granted

Last night he woke up for the first time in weeks
Left his front door and walked out into the streets
Saw what the world had to offer
And crawled back into bed went back to sleep
He woke up again this morning against his own will
So he spun the top off a bottle of pills
And imagined the face of his former lover
When she finally believes this is real

This is real
This is real
And as he feels himself slipping away, he says

"All my dreams
Are all coming back to me
And now it seems
They're all that I have with me
Turn off the clocks
I want nothing waking me
I want to lay
Right here where I am, and sleep forever."

But just then the sun starts rising
Over the trees and to the east
Shining brightly with a beauty
The likes of which he's never seen

Yeah sometimes we all need the sunlight
To wake us and open our eyes
And make clear what we already know
But at times just don't realize

That dark days, they help us remember
That we are lucky we've made it this far
To live, that is our purpose
Sometimes we forget how lucky we are

No one ever said it wouldn't be hard
But please don't forget how lucky you are

~For King And Country~

Raise this village to the ground
Kill any survivors to be found
Stop at nothing. Paint the sky with red
We have an endless thirst to quench
Taint the eyes of innocence
God have mercy for your sins
Kill the orphans in their sleep
Lets dig the graves. Make ‘em deep
Childrens' future in our hands
Witnessed dozens put to death

Let the dead poison the well
Drag the living through hell
Watching the blood flow by my feet
Stepping on bodies in the streets
Human fire feeds the machine
The soil in this place still bleeds

Kill the flower. Plant your weed
Murder the honor with your seed
Rape the child of innocence
Let the filth drench your hands
If it draws breath it must die

Take them out into the streets
Beat them down onto their knees
Put a bullet in their heads
Do this in the name of liberty
Human fire feeds the machine
The soil in this place still bleeds

Kill the flower. Plant your weed
Murder the honor with your seed
Rape the child of innocence
Let the filth drench your hands

In the name of liberty
For king and country

Lucky is gorgeous.

... and for King and Country has an amazing voice!

I withheld my vote, until the poll closed on this one, fearing a tie between these two, hoping it would be decided by an odd number of votes.

I'm selecting Lucky as the winner.

What?

There's a deadline for a reason.

But in that case, I vote for the other piece.

OH LOOK! IT'S TIED AGAIN.

haha I didn't mean to cause this much controversy.

a tiebreaker sounds fair. how would that work? do we re-vote? or submit another piece?
