What do you play? What is your budget? Do you gig/have band practice, or is it for bedroom use? Have you thought about looking into some (used) tube amps?

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

And I suppose that ALWAYS recommending a Valveking or a used tube amp isn't typical?

For those bands, I suggest the biggest MG you could get...

But I'd go with the Vox. I'd suggest a tube amp (PALOMINO V8), but I guess you don't need a good tone.

yea that is totally typical. but i usually recomend tube combos because they are a better deal for the money, but if you dont do anything buy play alone then a microcube/DA5 is great.
