I own one. It's good for the price. Great for beginners. A pickup swap to active EMGs will make it great for general metal. Otherwise, the standard pickups are alright (I still have standards in mine).

oddly, he's been here just as long as you have. so, I suppose that makes you a n00b too.

I checked one out. basswood body. standard trem. get some new pickups, a set-up and and maybe a new nut or locking tuners and I'm sure it would be a fine axe.

the RG2EX1 is a fixed bridge..
