So this sounds stupid, but in your personal experience, how do you learn a really fast lick on guitar cleanly. Do you just play it slowly and cleanly and build it up or do you play it as fast as you can and try and fix any errors from there? Thanks in advance all.

Do you mean cleanly as in without making any mistakes or as in playing on the clean channel?

I take it slowly, and study everything to find the most comfortable fingering I can use for the riff.

By cleanly i mean lack of mistakes yeah =] Specifiaclly no ring outs in a sweep.

Some things can take a bit of work for me, like string skips with tapping Michael Romeo style. Sweeps came easily for me. I am so so so very fortunate for that

If you do it by starting out fast you'll never get it down properly, you'll just mess up your technique.
