During this part in the solo:

  E. S S S S S S S S S S S S S
-------7----------7----------7------------|
---------10p-7------10p-7------10p-7----7-|
--9b-----------9b---------9b---------9b---|
------------------------------------------|
------------------------------------------|
------------------------------------------|

, is there a technique to prevent the G string from ringing out when I release it?

Thanks

EDIT:

And during the verses, for the rhythm guitar part, would you use hybrid picking, finger picking, or just play the root(?) of the part where it goes something on 0 on the G string and 3 on the A string?

  E E E E E E S S E Q E E E E S S E
---------------0-------------|-------------0-------------|
--0h--1-------------------1--|--L----1----------------0--|
--2~-----2-----------0h-2----|--0----------------0h-2----|
--2~--------2-----2----------|----------2-----2----------|
--0--------------------------|--3------------------------|
-----------------------------|---------------------------|

  Q E E E E E E Q E E Q Q

-------------------------|----------2--------------|
--3----------------------|--3----------------------|

Try to use your index finger to mute it when the string returns to its position.
TESTAMENT, SCAR SYMMETRY......SELF EXPLANATORY

acutally james hetifield picks the verse. The tabber just tabbed what sounded right because on the original recording james used a 12 string acoustic

Based on my experiences, thisismyacc is right. Just learn that lick slowly to get it up to speed. Then when you can play it up to speed you won't notice it ring out as much. Also, as much as possible try and lift your finger straight off the string. Maybe its ringing out because your finger is coming off to the side a bit if you know what I mean.

As for the verse, I use hybrid picking.
