Ok I have a question?

I've learned to play the guitar sitting down and in 2 months I will have my first real playing experience with my teacher and his band. And when I tryto play standing up I can't do it.

Any suggestions would be great ( and yes I do know I should stand up more but in 2 months you really can't change a bad habit )..

1. Get a strap for your guitar and - oh i forget the name - those clips that stop your strap from comming off.
2. Practise standing up.....a lot.....it'll come.....it just needs some getting used to
Punctuation it the difference between:
"I help my Uncle Jack off a horse."
and
"i helped my uncle jack off a horse"

Some peopl find it easier to play their guitar basically around their neck as they start. I suggest start off with your guitar above your waist (Or where its comfortable) and gradually lower it until it is around your waist level.

Wear it high, just keep practicing. Lower it slowly each day if you want to play it low.

Thank you guys I'll do that I have a half hour lesson today at 4pm so I'll start there.

I really got a bad habit because I've been playing like this for a year and a half.

Not necessary to play that low, really. But yeah, it probably looks killer.

If you don't have the leverage, copy Slash and do a power stance when soloing.

Don't rely too heavily on this, you should still be playing standing in a normal position so you get used to it; quite frankly I find it very annoying that slash apparently can't solo if he's not playing like that.

BB King sits down, but he's 82....I'm guessing you're younger than that. I don't really think theres much problem between playing upright and sitting down though. I did have a problem with jumping about when playing at first though. Got that sorted now though.
