All right, this has been annoying me foe a while. I've been playing a little over two years. Seriously playing not I can play 3 chords playing. Anyway.

I rarely go a day without playing guitar, electric or acoustic, but every once in a while, my calluses just get so torn up that my fingers bleed and I have to stop for a few days.

Is my skin just weak? You figure after two years my fingers would be strong enough. I play with 11 guage strings, but even 9's are enough to tear them up when I play lead.

This happen to anyone else? I don't really have anyone locally to ask because most players are the 3 chord kind.

only time my fingers ever came close to bleeding was when I first started. how often do you change strings? if they get to old they get a serrated type of feel to them that could cut through your fingers after a while

My fingers have never bled from playing guitar. There was some mild discomfort when I first started, but that has pretty much gone away.

my calluses were crap until i started playing bass, now my fingers are rock hard.

You probably just have weak/sensitive skin. Pussy.

Joking. I sort of do. I can't tan whatsoever, or I burn/bleed.

That only happened to me when I first started, and when I first started really getting into it.

I think the general consensus is that you, Artemis_Entreri, have retarded fingers.

I've been playing electric for like four years

acoustic for like six then

and my calluses are like just beginning to really show up

It's weird, but they never have stayed or gotten very solid

It takes a wee bit of force to fret 11's.

It really only gets bad when I solo a lot.
