don't tell me to use the searchbar
I want to switch mine out because like everyone else I find them a little too muddy.
I play punk/ska/reggae/jamband/indie music.
Suggestions?

^how cliche... I'd say a custom 5/custom custom bridge, and '59 or Jazz in the neck, all seymour duncan.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Everybody uses the JB... the JB is very trebly, the custom 5 is less so, and is a bit bassier/midrangy, and the custom custom is a bit more midrangy/warm. Not that the JB is bad, far from it; there are just other pickups to consider.
