i came on here before wondering if the line 6 spider III series was good, my friend wanted one. the response was terrible, but my friend refuses to accept this. i don't want him to make a mistake like this, so what should i tell him? just let me know what you think about the amp i guess...

plus it's hilarious, he said "it's the best amp i've ever played on," when it's basically the second amp he's ever played on.

Let him make his own mistake then.

If not... sit him down next to better amps. Put him in front of a good tube.

Generally ball peen hammers to the head work well too.

Take his wallet.

If you can, drag him to a music store that has good amps and, if lucky, Spider IIIs as well. A/B them for him. That should do it, no?

Let him hear tube goodness and the Spider III will quickly become NOT the best amp he's ever heard.

Uhh...take him to a music store and have him play amps/tell his parents.

Agreed, as with all solid state amps.

As a practise amp, go for it. It's actually really good sounding and versatile for a practise amp. If he needs an amp for gigging or even band practise, I'd recommend something else. Not even neccessarily a tube amp, but just something with a bit more balls and dedication to it. SOme sort of Randall if he plays metal.

That makes you as much as an idiot as your friend!

Just kidding. Although I really don't like A7X, I don't flame people for liking them.
now fall out boy fans, that's another story .

Well, have your friend try other amps. If he thinks the Spider III is the best amp he's ever tried, he's really missing out.
