hello there, i just got an offer to join a band as a guitarist! I've been looking about for a new band for a while now so this is good stuff.

anyway, i have a quick question to ask. Is it better to meet up with the other guys that are going to be in the band and hang our first? than say......just book a practice room for a few hours?

thanks in advance

It probably would be good to hang out with them a bit to start with. Just to get to know them. But try and start practicing with them as quick as possible.

oh and congratz, i've been trying to find a band for ages, not as easy at it sounds

Rest assure, you're not alone on forming a band. I've been struggling for awhile, and probably for many more ages to come. Anyway, to the poster of the thread; hang with the band and get to know them a little bit before jamming.

My band started out as just me and the lead guitarist. Everyone else we talked to via myspace for a couple days then we had practice when we first met in person and hung out afterwards. We always go to local shows together, maybe try that.

Yes. Definately.
It's extremely important that you can get along and socialise with these guys if you're gonna be in a band with them because you will probably find yourself sharing studios, vans and hotel rooms for hours on end with them.
