Ok, here's the deal. i bought a marshall MG100 Half stack for 600 bucks. today i went to Guitar Center and found a scratched Dean CFH for $466. they only way i can afford it is to return the marshall, but that means i'll have to use my Line 6. what should i do?
#2
go kill yourself.

seriously.

Dean, MG, Line 6.

I have nothing else to add. Please resign from Ultimate Guitar immediately. Then kill yourself.
#3
wow, ur a big help. just cuz i'm not a rich stuck up little brat doesn't mean i can't play guitar. stfu
#4
You're better off returning that MG, and saving your money for a new amp. What kind of guitar do you currently have?
#5
you have a good guitar. But return the amp it's jsut awful!

Get a Randall 50TC

Well first of all, the Marshall is a horrible amp. Not much of an upgrade over a Line 6, if any.

Return the amp regardless, it's a waste of money. Buy a nice tube combo or something instead, or if you want a good Line 6, get a Flextone.

ya i'm 15 and i don't have a job, i don't exactly have the cash to buy $2000 tube amps and guitars
#15
You can definately do better than the Marshall. Like people have said, if you're okay with your current guitar, keep it, and make an investment in an amp that has a good tone and will last you a few years.

Remember that tone is subjective, and that the most important thing is that you like your tone. That said, even if you like the MG, or even the Line 6, if you're looking to start gigging, what other people think becomes a big factor.

Someone recommended the Randall 50TC. With your ME-20, you should be able to get a very passable tone, and in the long run, this will benefit you much more in the long run than a new guitar will.

At the end of the day, though, it's your money, and it's your tone. Before you buy anything, try it out and make sure that you're happy with it, and won't regret your choice in a few months.
#16
ya the MG doesn't sound bad with the ME-20 but i love that Dean and idt i'll ever find it for under 900 again.

Again as everybody says its what you think sounds good, thou if you really have to have the dean sell your esp and or mg. Youll have money left over to buy a small 5-watt tube amp thatll blow the mg out of the water, that is if your not in a band and dont gig. But seriously listen to these guys they know what there talkin about, the mg is just not a good amp. A nice tube amp is what you want and you dont have to spend 2000 dollars to get a nice one. You can get a Peavey Valveking tube amp for 350 dollars. 50 watts, good amp to have. But again thats my opinion, you can do whatever you want.
#19
You dickheads who have nothing constructive to say and just want to pay out on the MG should shut the **** up. I personally think it's an overpriced muddy sounding piece of **** most of the time too, but it's his tone, not yours.

He's not here looking for you to insult his gear, he's looking for advice on what he should do. You think the MG has **** tone? Fine. Recommend an alternative and give some advice, or STFU.

To the TS, if you feel like the Dean is a good buy, and you're happy with it, there's no reason why you shouldn't buy it. A good guitar can inspire you to play, and your desire to want to improve and play music is more important (I think) than anything else.

I, personally, would go with a new amp before the guitar, but that's just me. Good luck, whatever you choose.

If you don't, it's not a big loss. Those damn Dime tribute guitars are ridiculously overpriced.

Just sell your MG. Buy a nice, cheap valve combo.

If you want opinions on different amps you can tell what you play and your price range. If you want the dean buy it, but you could sell the esp and marshall and get a nice tube amp for ya. Now im not tryin to sway you from what you want but its always nice to have options though.

you don't need $2000
you can get plenty of decent tube combos, ESPECIALLY USED ones, for that $600 you spent on the MG

You have enough money for a $600 tube amp that sHiits on that MG. Don't blame your terrible researching abilities on being not rich.

Put your raging e-rection away and stop insulting the kid for not being as knowledgeable as you. Not everyone has spent a load of time on UG learning why MGs are bad. I bet your researching skills were terrible before you came on here and everyone told you what your opinion should be.

I agree, but when I spend my hard earned $600 I don't just throw it away on something not of high quality. I'm not sure why people don't do this. Maybe it's because it is their parents' money and don't care or they are loaded. Who knows. I just know that I don't spend my money and throw it around helter skelter. Plus, I don't think Spider and MG bashing was as big as it is now when I came here so I might have gotten some good opinions.

the Valvekings are pretty awesome for what they are. They can cover any thing from blues to metal pretty well. For 400 bucks they are really hard to beat, don't get me wrong there are better amps, but the VK would be a big, huge step up from the MG or the line 6. Also it will be louder than your MG, 50 watts tube is pretty very loud. Very Cool amp for under 500 bucks.

Ive said this many many times now... Unless your spending $1000+ on a stack its gunna be crap. But hey just b/c we(especially me) think it sounds like says doesnt mean you wont like it.

The valveking is ok but i really suggest saving up a little more and maby sell your Line 6 and buying something decent. Maby a Marshall Jcm 800/900 or a nice carvin combo.

I object. The VK IS decent.

TS, if you want an idea what VKs sound like then you might check mine or mike.h's profiles:

Although we changed the speakers in ours, as this improves the tone massively.

You think you could actually contribute next time and not take the piss? You're just being a douche.

TS, the Valveking is a pretty solid amp, but if you're going for metal tones, might I recommend the Randall RG50TC? It's a much better amp.
