I have three distortion-type pedals. A DS-1, A Bad Monkey, and a BMP. I love the BMP but am a bit unsatisfied by the other two. What is a good pedal in the 80-100$ range that can do overdrive and distortion well?
If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you lack sufficient imagination.

I am...a guitarist and a bassist
In fact I started playing guitar first.

I use my BMP for the bass and it sounds just fine.

Not sure about price, but I've only heard good things about it.

You cant go wrong with an Ibanez Tube Screamer, Maxon also makes a Tube Screamer replica called the OD808, Digitech X series Hot Rod is also I good one for the money, If you're looking for a little pricier item, I'd go with a Fulltone Full Drive, or a Radial Tonebone Classic or Hot British which are both great, and they have a unique sound because they use a 12AX7 tube.

It's an ovedrive pedal, not a distortion pedal.
