Hey all. I'm transferring universities next semester and since I am leaving I am looking for a new laptop. I'm looking for something with reasonable hd space, at least1gb of ram, and in general just decent specs. I've never been a laptop guy but I'm gonna be away from my baby (desktop) for a long time so I need something to hold me over. As for price I don't mind going crazy as long as the unit is really worth it. Keep in mind that I am a Computer Science major.

You *so* need a min of 2Gb of RAM :-) ... .I use a Tosh Tecra M5 with 80Gb disk and 2GB RAM and I love it! Gets used all day everyday and just works (computer scientist here as well so not afraid of fixing things when they're broken, just rather not have to :-D)

I personally like Sony VAIOs:

I just got mine like a week ago and it works great. I think they all come with at least 1GB of RAM now, and like a 150GB HD. Some of the higher end ones have blu-ray drives also.

Probably going to be a whooooole bunch of people suggesting you get a macbook though.

Oh, and HP has some really powerful laptops, albeit kind of big:

Thanks for the help so far guys. I'm going over the links and info posted. I forgot to mention I am not interested in any mac products. Don't want to start any altercations with any mac users its just not my bag.
