alrighty today i went and bought new sets of strings
the first ones start at 11 and the second ones start at 13
anyways i'd like to put on the thirteens because i normally play a halfstep down but what will that do to my playing when im in standard tuning?
im just trying to decide if i should try the 11's first

So tell me.

Why does this fit into the Blues and Jazz forum exactly?

And your post makes no sense anyway.

Thinner strings in lower tunings = looser strings.
Thicker strings in lower tunings = not so loose strings.

God, have you ever heard of logic????

1. because i play blues and jazz, so i thought anyone else in here might be a little more helpful

2. i know what you mean but i play in both tunings so im trying to decide which one would be better with a little help from others

Please remember, you are not Stevie Ray Vaughan. 13s may sound like a good idea, but the tone difference isn't worth destroying your fingers for.

destroying your fingers? because they're thicker, right?

if so, i don't think that it destroys your fingers. For me, its just like playing an acoustic for a while. Your fingers get stronger, and your calluses get bigger, and it makes playing electric easier

i use 13s. i dont do it as much for the tone as the fact that when i switch back to smaller strings it seems so much easier. and also i like to play in drop tunings a lot so thicker strings are wonderful.
but like the guys before me said its all personal preference

i don't know what your current strings are, but be aware that if you are making a significant change in size your setup is going to need adjustment (truss rod, intonation, action). however as said above, this is not the right forum for such discussion, try 'electric guitar' forum instead.
