I have a Peavey Bandit transtube 112. I like it.

Thing is, it has two inputs on the front, one for high gain and the other low gain (i think 6dB is the difference).

I just want to make sure: can both inputs can be used at the same time - two guitars plugged in- without any risk of damage?

No, if you plug into both inputs the amp just wont work, it just cuts off the input.

WRONG.

If you plug 2 guitars into it, both become low gain. Me and a friend jammed that way a few times. It works, but doesn't sound too good.

Nope. The manual says so as well.

Strange amp then, I also don't see how, electronically, that can happen, mind getting me a schematic for it?

mcwoot is just ****ing with you.

Its no prob using two guitars in the same amp. Bot imputs will become "low gain" however.

No I'm not, I'm genuinely confused as to how it can happen...my Laney cuts both inputs and so do all the other 2 input amps i know, unless they're designed to be used as 2 inputs.

In fact, i'm testing my amp again to make sure it doesn't.

Ok, after much testing, it cuts the low gain input and only lets the high gain input through. Which I can actually explain

There is a point to it, the low gain one attenuates the input by 50% (3dB) meaning that it's harder to overdrive the preamp, and that high output pickups don't get overly brittle at high volumes.

Some amps do allow you to use both...

Then how does it switch the non attenuated input into an attenuated one? Using just jacks.
