ok, i was thinking of getting a peave valvle king 212
ive heard some people say it has weak distortion
ive heard others say you really have to mess with the nobs to get good distortion
what do you think?

It's very hard to get good cranked distortions. It sounds descent at low volume, but is very weak at high volume. Punchy, but weak. Your better off using a pedal with a VK. It's not a great hard rock/ metal amp

Please do not rip upon me for suggesting it, I, personally like Line 6...the distortion is great and if you get the Line 6/ Bogner Tube amp u could tear it up

Umm thats with any amp...

There are a few good videos and sound clips up in the community and on youtube. Check them out, theres some posted in my profile and Mike.H has a few... Im still working with my mic setup so the clips posted are using a laptop mic.

The distortion there talking about is Death Metal distortion which it cant do. But metal it doesnt have an issue with..

Don't listen to him...

God himself would take you out if you had the cash and purchased a Line 6 Spider II instead of a Valveking...

The Vk has a fizzy bland distortion. i like it over a line 6 though. But imo my vox rapes it.

id disagree with the second part of your statement

if youve ever heard a boosted, properly eq'd valveking youd know its quite capable of hard rock and some light metal

get a cheap marshall... my MG15DFX has a button that simulates the sound of one of the expensive tube marshall amps.

I really like the Valveking's distortion. Not as high gain as a 5150/6505. But decent. Good enough for hard rock. Nu-metal with an overdrive pedal or something. Good tube tone regardless. Good rock amps for not too much money, IMO.

The Valveking is good, just upgrade the few things it needs.
