Okay as some you might know I have a 3-way switch.

Let's say it is on a Gibson Flying V.

2 pickups.

When the switch is up, what pickup is selected?

When the switch is down, what pickup is selected?

usually, the more bluesy sounding one will be neck pickup and the sharper sounding one is bridge...unless im backward but i think im right.

away from you is the bridge, more treble. Toward you is neck, more bassy. Middle is both.

i just wanted her poon and she wanted me to have her poon.

I know all of this.

I am asking about the physical position of the actual toggle switch.

up and or to the.. left if you're holding your guitar is usually the neck pickup (the one typically used for rhythm, is louder)
Down or to the.. right if you're holding it is usually the bridge (used for lead, gets better harmonics)

So if I am looking down at the guitar while holding it (assume I hold it horizontally)

If the switch is up (toward from me) it should be neck
If it is down (pointing to the floor) it is on bridge

I ask because I got done building the thing and it is the other way around

well most switches that are 3-way go left to right (horizontal )rather then up and down.(vertical). but if u wanted it up and down then you'd want it to be.. (up - neck) and (down - bridge) Thats how les pauls are if I'm not mistaken..

And ya, if you have the opposite you may want to re-wire it.. or just turn it around.

Did no-one else find it amazing that TS didn't already know this?

Malmsteen would be prudish religious freak sex. No Hands, no looking down, all the technical bits and not very good for anyone involved.

I didn't know it either when I used to have a Les Paul. But since LPs have separate volume controls, you can easily deduce which pickup is on in which position. ie. turn one pickup down on the volume, and see which position on the switch produces no sound.

switch up=neck pickup
switch down=bridge pickup
switch middle=both of them
