Do not get into the indie scene. The british music scene is a shambles and indie the cause.

Listen to grunge. AiC. STP. Early Foos (**** it, newer foos as well). Sit tight and wait for the revolution.

reccommended albums:
Dirt - AiC
Self Titled - Foos
Pocketwatch - Late! (Grohl again)
Core - STP

Dio - Holy Diver

TS, you might also want to check out some 80s rock e.g. whitesnake, motley crue, GnR etc.

(I was gonna also recommend you some Iron Maiden, but you didn't want metal)
#28
Definitely stay clear of the British Indie Scene! It's about as innovative as a fly hitting itself on a window repeatedly.

Check out my old favs the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They've got a whole load of interesting, funky tunes. They even do a cover of Hendrix's 'Fire'.
#29
I recommend Throbbing Gristle's 20 Jazz Funk Greats (has nothing to do with jazz or funk, but is a great album)

Ride the lightning. but because you dont want metal, maybe pink floyd? wish you were here and dark side of the moon are good. so is the wall. and if you like the stuff on those go get the other ones. check out the song echoes. 23 minutes of weirdness that will probably hurt your brain.
