There's a liquidation sale at the place where I take jazz lessons and there's a Vox AC30 2x12 30w for 800 bucks. I plan on buying a new amp since I'm moving down to Dallas to attend college. Is it worth the buy? I play blues-jazz rock. The only reason I'm asking is because I've never really played through a Vox before.

The OD is to die for, but the cleans won't be very good for Jazz music.

It's a great amp, and that's a good deal if it's brand new.

Wha!?

An AC30 is THE clean amp!
I tried one once (it was the head+cab version mind) and it had beautiful cleans, and when an OD was kicked in, DAMN was that good sound!

For Jazz (well. . Jazz-rock sorta) check this, just a guitar and an AC30. All awesome:

Also the rare appearance of Rory Gallagher on Sax.

The Twin Reverb is THE clean amp. Especially for Jazz, the AC30 is not voiced for Jazz. For blues and rock it's great. It will do jazz, but not wonderfully.

Well, I just played it, and it's nasty. But the only downside is that it needs a new rectifier tube.

Other specs is that it was built in 1994 and in the UK, not a foreign factory.
