How do you not hit the other strings?

Yeah use your thumb and a finger. If you don't want to do that you can mute that string with another finger but it will alter the feel of the notes a bit.
Do you use a BR-600?
If so, click here to join the group thats made for you!

Just mute the string(s) between the notes you want to play, like this:

------X-----

Or, finger pick, as CowboyUp said.

I'm not sure I see how he was a dick. He was just giving a concise answer. I'm sure the boy could figure out the technique itself quite alright on his own, he's not stupid.

finger pick one of the strings or mute the one in the middle (like when you pick octaves)

Why's he being a dick? It's not like the TS doesn't have a brain...

...even if he doesn't he has Google.

You can either mute the strings or finger pick. I usually just use one of the strings with the pick and the rest with my finger.

Someone did say it, I can't believe you said that without reading the replies.

yeah definitely out of my ability range right now. Im looking for some exercises for this.
#16
no, really, it's easy. Just lay one finger down on top of the B, but not hard enough to fret it. If you're doing it right the B won't sound. Try play through the individual notes of the chord shape to make sure the B is properly muted.

There's no exercise - that's like asking for an exercise to help build your skills of fretting a note. It's too basic.
I'm looking for a tab of The Marshall Plan, by Blue Oyster Cult, and of Mario Minor, by Powerglove. If you have one please PM me.
