You dont need 100 watt. You wont get a good sounding amp for $300 australian unless you look used. Even then it'll be mediocre.

What syles of music do you play and could you get your budget up any higher? There are a couple of Flextones on Ebay.com.au for $500 that are a real bargain.

Well for a solid state amp around 100-120 is bearable aswell. You do know that Wattage doesnt determine how good an amp is?

Anyway if you can afford one: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Line-6-Flextone-II-XL_W0QQitemZ150232149644QQihZ005QQcategoryZ23784QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Comes with the foot switch. I've been frequenting ebay for weeks and for that price range, thats the best I've found. You might find something else though.

For $300 AUD you wont get squat though.

The flextone is a great amp,and for that price its amazing. Great for recording and has direct outs for a PA system. Alternatively you can Mic it into the Pc and use it as a personal Monitor.

The flextone has a bunch of in built effects and models various amazing amps. While its not the "real thing" it does it really well.

Dude, you wont be able to get an amp that 'can withstand live performances' in that price range.
Keep saving, and don't purchase an amp because of wattage.
