so anyways i've been having ear problems... and if i hear loud noises/music my ears hurt.. so i go to this asian doctor/ear specialist and he tells me that i need to be in a quiet environment for the remaining period of time til it heals... and then i go to another ear specialist and he says that i can do what i want cause he found no infection or anything... i also got a CT scan and nothing showed up.. so i don't know what to do.. and i don't wanna quit playing guitar!!

just chill out for awhile. i guess what it comes down to is: either temporarily stop listening to loud music or never be able to listen to loud music again.

I'd stay in a quiet environment just to be safe. It's better to not hear anything for a while, than to not hear properly ever again.

I say listen to the asian doctor... but the fact that he's asian doesn't need to have anything to do with it. He's a professional and you should treat him like one. If you keep abusing your ears, they're more likely to get worse before they get better.
Pain = a sign to rest. It's not the end of the world if you keep in a quiet environment for a while.

P.S. please don't come to the pit for medical advice. You should know that by now.

did you tell the second doctor that you saw another specialist, and he said you need to let your ear heal?

I've actually had doctors tell me nothings wrong with me, so they can shoo me out of there office and take there lunch break. your safest bet is to listen to the first doctor.

You can still play...I have my amp really low quite often, quieter than people talking so it can't be that bad.

did you REALLY have to put the fact that he was asian in your post?

Just turn down the volume. Just thank God you aren't tone deaf and had the ear problems I did (or lack of working ear, in one ear's case).

Yesterday I went to the mall with my black friends.
My mexican friend listens to classical music.
Im having some white friends come over.

See how unnecessary it sounds manbearpig?

Oh f*ck it,

I watched life turn into a TV show.
It was totally weird.

Anyways, there is nothing physically wrong with your ears. A general inspection would have revealed debirs or perforations. Your ears just can't handle large volumes anymore. It happens naturally.

well you sound like you might know something or two about it? how long would you suggest to quit? or would this be a permanent thing?
