Who do you guys think is the most talented person in music that isnt in the rock genre? I think Justin Timberlake, Lupe Fiasco, Nas, Kanye West, Tribe called quest, Public Enemy, and Timbaland are all great artists who have meaning and dedication in their songs. They all know how to express emotion really good in their songs and they all make great music. They are people to be looked up to when it comes to the music business as a whole.

You should specify that it's in popular music, otherwise you'll get a huge list of classical composers.

And I quite like Adele.

But for me, Talent =/= automatically good music. For example, Christina Aguilera has an amazing voice, but I don't like any of her songs.

Regina Spektor.

Brian Eno

Actually I don't know if he counts because he was in Roxy Music and put out a couple of Rock albums, but that's not really what he's known for.

Its cool, people could write any composer or artist they want.

Brahms for me

fail.
Brahms was metal as HELL, and metal is a subgenre of rock, and that breaks the rules of the thread.

Kayne's producing is amazing, and his rapping is pretty good too. Nas is a great rapper and has great lyrics. Outkast is probably the most creative musicians in music, including rock.

There are too many talented folk/hip-hop/electronic/country/jazz artists to list. Not to mention absolutely buckets of classical compsers. If we're talking about the most talented/gifted musician ever I'd definitely say Mozart. In any case, assuming that the most talented musicians are rock musicians is just silly.
