ok so which song defined each of these decades for you.

i know this has probebrly been done before like but never mind,

60's - All ALong The Watch Tower - Jimi Hendrix (Bob Dylan cover)

70's - Satirway to Heaven - Led zeppelin

now im sure everyone will have a different answer for the 80's but just choose 3 songs you think made the eightys great.

80's 1 - Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden
80's 2 - Peace Sells - Megadeth
80's 3 - About A Girl - Nirvana

same as above pick 3 songs

90's 1 - Come As You Are - Nirvana
90's 2 - Evidence - Faith No More
90's 3 - Beer - Reel Big Fish

00's 1 - rape This Day - Tomahawk
00's 2 - World So Cold - MuDvAyNe
00's 3 - Embrace The Gutter - The Autumn Offering

there just some of my choices

I'd say '90s is Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana

Much as I hate to admit it, I think this guy is right. Maybe Wonderwall here in Britain.

Anyways:

60's: The Beatles- Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

70's: Led Zeppelin- Stairway To Heaven

80's: Iron Maiden- Number Of The Beast

90's: Nirvana- Smells Like Teen Spirit (oh how I wish it was Pearl Jam or AiC instead)

00's: No idea. Something by the Libertines maybe? They're responsible for every crap indie band in Blighty since.

EDIT

Oh I see, which song defines the decade for me. In that case, scrap everything above.

erm, the thread subject pretty much summed up what was in the post, so what the hell where you expecting? idiot.

also, just a word of advice, everyone now uses the term 'fail', it's really so overused it's starting to get really gay.

I was expecting someone to call me an idiot and call a simple word gay.

even though the song's over played, smells like teen spirit defined the 90s

though personally, id say in bloom does it for me

80s, id say something like left of the dial by the replacements, or turn on the news by husker du, for defining alternative

70s, hard to say cos so many different things, but id personally go for punk and anarchy in the UK

60s has to be the beatles full stop or maybe something by the kinks
#18
heres a good list noobs

60s- the times they are a changin (duh)- bob dylan
70s anarchy in the UK- sex pistols
80s- like a virgin - madonna ( the decade of cheesey pop)
90s- smells like teen spirirt- nirvana

dont know about the 00s

1960s: The Beatles- 'All You Need is Love' or 'Penny Lane'
1970s: Either 'Money' by Pink Floyd or 'God Save The Queen'
1980s: Guns 'n' Roses- 'Sweet Child O' Mine'
1990s: Oasis- 'Wonderwall'
2000s: Got another 2 years yet.
#29
for me it's totally random b/s :p

50's - Elvis. No one else

60's Beatles and Frank Zappa. No specific song.

70's - Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

80's - Jump by Van Halen

90's - Freak Kitchens Spanking Hour (1996) and Appetizer (1994). Both as albums and as songs.

00's Again, Freak Kitchen. Nobody's Laughing, Speak When Spoken To and Chest Pain Waltz.

Might come something better (for me) or just as good in the remaining two years though :p

A very alternative one at some points.
Can't decide on one song for each.

As much as I'd love to think that these songs defined the decades:

1970s: Stairway to Heaven
1980s: Master of Puppets
1990s: Davidian
2000s:

It's more like this:

1970s: Dancing Queen - Abba
1980s: Some awful glam/hair/cheese
1990s: Some Limp Bizkit crap
2000s: Fall out Boy.
