Dear GG&A board,

I am in the market for a new amp. I've done lots of research but I think it's finally time to see what the good people of UG have to say. Without further ado...

- the absolute maximum is $450
- Versatile! I like me cleans, overdrive (think dirty blues) and a more modern rock overdrive (3 Doors Down, 311, Foos, Audioslave etc)
- Tube or SS, doesn't really matter, but good tone is a plus. Leaning towards tube.
- handles pedals well
- 15 - 30 watts - I won't be gigging but in the near future, but being heard over drums is a must (practice)
- Used is all right, new is preferred
- Combo

and I know this is a weird question, but do you need a cab for an amp head?

Peavey Valveking 112. I think its 50w, but it can do all of those things. Im getting one in the near future.
Ad30 or 50, im not to sure how it works with pedals though.
Looking for a new sig!
To answer your question, you do need a cab for a head.

Suggestions -

Peavey VK112
Vox AC-30/AC-15
Traynor YCV40 - I don't know, I just like to have headroom
Laney LC-30
Peavey Classic 50 over Valveking and C30 IMO.

EDIT:Used of course...

Check a used Fender Blues Junior, and/or Pro Junior.

Some SERIOUS searching could yield a used JCM800 combo, but good frucking luck.
