i have a 5150 212 combo, so im sure its apparent that i love playing metal.
i'm currently waiting for christmas or my birthday to come around, so that i can ask for a new 7 string guitar.
but i would like to have a decent 6 string.
i have a schecter omen 6, it has a basswood body, im happy with everything else, i just think a pickup change would be nice.
first of all, is it necessary? i will still use it frequently even after i get a 7 string.
im looking for some good passive pickups for metal, but still have a little versatility.
any suggestions?

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

duncan JB/'59... or if you want to go for active pups then just buy EMG 81/85 or 81/60...
