Hey guys, I'm starting to assemble my first collection of pedals, and I need a bit of help. Any recommendations on a good pedal to cover the general blues/classic rock /hard rock kind of overdrive and distortion?
Got myself a decent Marshall and a customized Strat with SD pickups.

If you had yourself a decent Marshall, you wouldn't need a pedal.

Um... The EHX Big-Ben is pretty solid.

Which marshall is it?
I dunno, the perfect overdrive may be one of those crazy expensive tube powered ones.

An OCD maybe? Though that's not going to be much help if you have a SS Marshall.

a Marshall shouldn't be "decent" for overdrive. Shouldn't it be what the amp is known for?

What are Marshalls known for then? Their amazing versatility and cleans?

I'm just playing around.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure I just misinterpreted that wrong. If so, I'm sorry bud!

TS, you could also check out Retrosonic pedals. They are pretty killer.

If you want a very, very nice overdrive/distortion, look into the Tube Zone Overdrive by MI Audio. They're a pretty small company based in Sydney, AU.

Get an Ibanez Tubescreamer, everyone from SRV to Trey Anastasio and even Kirk Hammett uses one.
