I attempted to re-string my BC rich bronze series mockingbird yesterday, and well, basically I did it wrong, but don't know how or what. Managed to tune the strings but whenever I fret a note on any string it just makes a high pitched, percussive noise. Roughly the same pitch no matter what fret. This hasn't happened before and I have very basic understanding of how guitars actually work. Please help!

As far as I am aware that makes no difference at all. I never take off al the strings to restring tbh. Nothing ever happens to my guitar when doing that.

Check if the strings are actually touching the neck. Could just be the action needs to be higher.

Plus pics would probably help

it's probably just that fresh acoustic twang you get off new strings.

keep playing and they'll break in, so to speak.

Are the strings in the saddles of the bridge? If so, raise your bridge by turning the screws.

It's not that twang, but thanks anyway. I took all the strings off to re-string it. How do I make the action higher? I know almost bugger all about how to work guitars.

I'd just take it into a shop and have a tech look at it.
