well i have the ms-4 and if u want a constantly distorted tone go for it, i love it, its got the marshall sound without turning the gain up, its great i shove it in my pocket and wander round the house jamming

I'd go a Micro-Cube personally. It may be a little too big for you but I think it's probably the better option. It's still battery powered and thus portable and has a decent tone with some cool sounds in it.

I have that small marshal. It worked for a few weeks, now the tone knob is fried and it is just a conversation piece. It sounded ok for what it was. I have not tried the baby fender twin.
EDIT: If you don't mind carrying a small amp, +1 on the microcube or vox da5.

all mini amps are the same. they all have tiny speakers so anyone who tells you a mini amp gets him "the marshall sound" is being pretty enthusiastic amp his amp, to say the least.

so if you REALLY want a mini then pick up the cheapest one. a smokey or a honeytone.

if money isnt an option check out the little Vox plug ins that are out now.

if you want a good dorm amp, can still work on batteries, then a micro cube is excellent.

otherwise, nothing wrong with a pedal or fx and some headphones.

Yeah I forgot about the DA5, that's also a good one. For of a micro-amp than a mini one but still not huge by any standard.

meh, im not a huge Da5 fan, every time i try one at a shop, i get buzzing. maybe from dudes trying to over power the speaker, but i'll stick with the cube on this one.

It's not worth asking for a recommendation - they all sound equally crappy, but great fun. To be honest you could plug a Dumble into one of those tiny speakers and it'd still sound like ass. Basically go for whichever you think looks coolest- I particularly like the little fenders.

If your school has a cabinet handy you could get the Blackheart Killer Ant, which would sound approximately a billion times better. The Peavey Nano Valve isn't too bad either, tried one last week and it's really quite decent. You could stick it in/strap it to your guitar case without any hassle at all.

He was looking at $50 amps and you recommended a $500 amp. It is a "nifty" little gadget as he states in the video.
I'm still saying microcube or da5, mine doesn't buzz when I play it... but I do...
