Where is your scene? How is your local hardcore/metalcore scene? and Who are some good bands to check out?

My scene is the Landsdale/Doylestown scene, its a few miles from Philadelphia. Right now things are kinda ****, because there is only one venue in the area that still books hardcore regularly and its hard to find somewhere to set up a shows.

Bands to check out:

Mother of Mercy - good hardcore

Prevail - local metalcore heroes

Let Down - Straight edge hardcore

Well my scene is famous for alt and indie stuff. (REM, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc)
But the town next to Athens has a pretty great metal scene

both are great for my music tastes
"There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah"

the "core" scene in my area isn't too great. Especially since there are barely any venues near by.
#8
The music is pretty good, but the scene kids are kinda annoying.

Where is your scene? Tucson/ Phoenix, AZ

How is your local hardcore/metalcore scene? Shows with breakdown bands are horrible because like 200 ****ty kids come out and just want to fight everyone. However, regular hardcore shows here are really fun.

and Who are some good bands to check out? Hellbound, Fake Out, Alarm, Run With the Hunted, Red Son

Well, where I live now there are absolutely no bands at all, but next year I'll be attending VCU. So hopefully I'll be able to partake in the scene a lot better. Anyway, a few good Richmond bands:
Bracewar http://www.myspace.com/bracewar
Swamp Thing http://www.myspace.com/swampthingrva
Naysayer http://www.myspace.com/naysayerichmond

And clenching your fist for the ones like us
Who are oppressed by the figures of beauty,
You fixed yourself, you said, "Well, never mind,
We are ugly, but we have the music."

First of all, I enjoy deathcore for it's complexity and it's the only genre heavy enough for me

The scene in Philadelphia is pretty eclectic, but still interesting. A good combo of punk, indie, hip-hop, soul, etc. The only problem is that many once great venues are dying.
#23
Green Bay - we dont have a scene we go to milwaukee and the fox cities for shows.. the fox cities scene is pretty much 2 bands, one of them being a tough guy edge band.. the other a melodic hardcore band. milwaukee aint bad

There's a couple shitty moshcore bands, and one REALLY good tech death metal band:

Phoenix/Scottsdale is great. I love how many people are into it and more and more are. No more white wannabe gangstas

I love Forgive! Feroze designed my bands cd cover!

^ haha, yeah. forgive is an awesome band. i especially like 'remember'. i dont know the guys in the band though. but feroze plays bass right?
#31
I love the breakdown for Our Fight. I think Feroze plays the guitar, I could be wrong though. But yeah, good band, good dudes.

Chicago's best metal acts are getting bigger right now. Born of Osiris and Veil of Maya are the two main acts right now. In my town, there is still a very big pop punk movement, but there are a couple bands coming up right now with more of an edge. The Capital Son is one. They are more in the vein of The Fall of Troy and At the Drive-In, but they are good nonetheless. They don't have any songs up on myspace yet, but their ep is coming out sometime this month, so they will put them up then.

The Perth scene is okay, but personally, I think it could be so much better. Theres seems to be so many fakers and people who just stick in their tiny groups and don't actually contribute to the scene, other than going to the shows with their cameras, because they're so artistic . Now I'm not saying I'm some veteran of the scene, because I definitely am not, I just feel like I'm not going to see those people at these shows in a couple of years time.

The best bands (IMO) in Perth at the moment:

Vengeance
Bridge The Gap
Something More

haha ok I'm listening now

Taken Away is decent, but they're...too "happy" for my tastes, if that makes sense.
I like Golden Arm except the vocals. They're just annoying haha.
Speak of The End is more of what Im used to Very generic, but I love generic deathcore, so there you go. They rely a bit to much on the standard open breakdown though. Drummer sounds amazing.
Convictions is meh. Kinda amateur sounding, if you know what I mean.

Isnt The Showdown local for you too? Fucking love them. Seen them twice and can't wait to see them again with Arsis and Shadows Fall.

Now check out Aborted Existence! haha
www.myspace.com/abortedexistence

EDIT:
Judging by your picture, I'm going to go ahead and assume you're the singer for the showdown...

My scene is in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It really sucks. All people listen to here is Alesana, TDWP, and Grindcore, but not the good one, the crappy one.

There is maybe one or two good bands around here.

Some bands that are good are:

Incognita (hxc punk in spanish), Ryu, Candlelit Massacre (broke up), and Lastilfall (Broke up), and Sin Fin De Lucro (hxc punk in spanish, no recordings, only has live vids)

im in Riverside/Corona scene and its dying
hardcore shows dont have more the 100 people at em
and half of the people are too cool to circle pit

it seems like everyone is "into" the music but are never at the shows
the whole metal scene here is dying thank god because its always labled as "hardcore"
pop punk is on the rise out of no where
the rest are people into hiphop

in conclusion my scene blows
If looks could kill, my charm will scatter faceless dead bodies, everywhere
