I use picks.

Seriously, it's the Jim Dunlop Jazz III's now. I need the extra thickness because I'm a heavy handed picker.
Gear:
Ibanez S470 (EMG 81/S/85)
Sigma DMC-15E
Laney VH100R
Laney 4x12 Cab
Ibanez Weeping Demon
M-Audio ProKeys 88
Mbox 3 Pro
KRK RP6 G2's
Plum Team FTW!

Jim Dunlop Jazz IIIs, they are the best picks, i refuse to use any other.

Jim Dunlop: Lucky 13 designs. .73 gauge. made out of plastic with a light coating of rubber for extra grip.

they're picks. they matter little to your sound, if you go from medium to hard. that's just like asking, "hey, you use the middle of your thumb when you fingerpick? oh, i won't use anything but the bottom third of my thumb!"

if the culmination of your playing and sound comes from your picks, then you're focusing on the wrong part.

Okay, sorry, that was a little judgemental. I guess what i'm trying to say, is that there are bigger things to be worrying about when it comes to guitar, in my opinion.

I wish I could find these pick I used to be able to get. Made of carbon fiber so lasted forever had a pot leaf on em. Used to get em long time ago at a store thats long since closed. Found some on line either as collectors items or a place in germany. Not very reliable to have to get em from overseas tho.
