I have a Gibson SG Special Faded and have recently wanted a different sound. Don't get me wrong, the stock pickups sound great, but I want something that's a little more versatile.

I am playing through a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 and I play everything from the Classic Rock of Hendrix and Zeppelin to Modern Rock like the White Stripes, Wolfmother, Wilco and a lot of blues (Delta and Chicago). The only genres I don't really play are jazz and metal, but really i try at everything else.

I don't really want to set a budget so that I don't sacrifice price for tone. Let me know what you guys think.

duncan jazz and jb combo? The jazz pickup has a nice clean tone and can get a decent rythym tone jb is balanced with decent output.

I'd agree on the SD Jazz for the neck, but the JB/SH-4 probably has a similar output and tone to your Gibson 490T.

Wait for someone to give DiMarzio-based advice, or jump in with an SH-5.

Edit: I have no idea.

Duncan Custom 5 all the way, 59 in the neck - I wouldn't go for the jazz unless you're into shred.

Thanks a lot, I'll look into it. Anybody else have any other suggestions?
