I recently bought this from a chinese website, Its a fake, but at least it was cheap.

Its the first fake Paul Reed Smith I've seen, anyone else had similar experiences with fake PRS's?

By the way, the guitar sounds pretty good, but was badly wired and badly set up.

The bird inlays are crappy transparent plastic. The bridge is marked wilkinson but i doubt if it is really.

Tuners are marked grover but appear to be painted plastic!

After a bit of tinkering its now quite playable and reasonable for the price paid US $200.

Pray, how do you know it's real?

And if it's badly wired, I'm pretty sure it isn't.

Best reread that post of his.

What exactly did you pay, TS?
It doesn't look TOO bad, really...

I paid $ 200 plus $ 70 shipping, with the strong euro exchange rate that makes EUR 170.

Can anyone identlify what type of wood its made from ( clearly visible at the back of the guitar - doesn't appear to be plywood)

That is really cheap... how's the wood? Is it somewhat nice, or just cheap plywood?

It looks... crooked? And whats the 'flamed maple' top? Is it fake flamed maple or (:O) Real?

Nice buy I guess.

It looks off though. People will be able to tell it's fake so don't try to pass it off as a real one 'kay?

LOL, no chance of passing it for a real one (I would not try anyway). The flamed top does not seem to be real, is there any way of knowing for certain?

PS: The neck is not crooked, its perfectly straight

eek, on that body and top.

by the time the hardware is upgraded, you probably could have gotten a nice used PRS.

If people would stop buying the cheap chinese copies they would stop selling them. Still dont know why its cheaper to buy a crappy copy then upgrade everything on the guitar. Its funny if the chinese put the effort into making the knockoffs into their own brand of real guitars they might actually make a decent guitar.

In my country it is cheaper as the PRS Signlecut SE and PRS Custom SE both cost about 1200 bucks.

No offense, but I don't think I would've even considered it considering the way it looks.

It just looks like it wasn't "finished." Too rough, and not refined. It just doesn't look right to me.

TBH for a cheap fake cninese knock-off of a PRS, it's pretty solid. it's not like someone's just written the logo on with gold pen like a mate of mine's done on his cheap LP copy
