Im learning mastodon and i know some of there songs are in a weird tuning
A G C F A D. I tuned down and i really like that tuning, is there any other bands that use this? (I dont know if this belongs in the metal forum... sorry if it dosnt)

It is an awesome tuning - I've only started learning early Mastodon songs recently but that open A sounds great. Mother Puncher is the best

It's standard D with the low D dropped to an A so power chords become octaves. Their entire album 'Remission' uses that tuning, but that's the only album.

Huh? The tuning he gave would be D standard with the low D dropped to an A, which would be another 2 whole steps, rather than just one which would make them octaves... right?

Yup that's it. Mother Puncher is an awesome song.

Mudvayne_4_Life you should have a look at the bass tuning, its stupidly low.

This tuning is evil, it sounds so good.
