Hello guys.

I think about some home recording gear. My goals are to have sound as good as possible with limited funds. No noise.

External sound car is the first candidate. I've found this one:

http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FastTrackPro-main.html It has nice tech-specs , but only on paper. Reviews are average. What about the noise?

Second one: http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/g71ut/index.php I like the tube inside, tech-specs are too alright. You can take it for gig too (Sound card not). Again, it's noisy? I Wonder if man can bypass all the features and use it only as a external sound card - making sounds by Amplitube or some other plugins. Is possible to bypass amp models and use only effects from the Zoom?

Well, that's all. I'll be glad for any advice. If you think there is something better than those two candidates, please tell. But have on mind the price :-). Thanks

With this I can help you.

From my experience with the Zoom G2.1U, no it's not noisy at all. It's very silent, and the ZNR (noise remover) work very well. Yes, you can put it on bypass and I believe it works like an external sound card. Yes, it's possible to bypass amp models and only use the effects.
