Ok so I have a Line 6 Spider III 75 watt amp and am Planning on getting the Dean Dave Mustaine VMNTX sig and putting the real live wire pickups in it. I want a pedal as well and am not sure what to get. Im on a budget so I want it perferably around or under a hundred dolars and I want one with WAH Is the one made for the spider 3 series the best choice or is there another one that comes with better effects wah and stuff

Oh... You're new here.
What halfstack?

New amp before guitar. Always. No exceptions unless you have a plywood body guitar with a 2x4 for a neck.

What kind of half stack?

The hotbar should be floating parallel to the principle axis at this point. Next, take a hammer, and beat yourself in the face while crying JIHAD. problem fixed.

Look I've got a bout 450 to send on a guitar and another 100 for a pedal a decent halfstack costs a lot more.. My parents said I could have one for christmas so I'm fine with bidding my time for now. So could someone plz just answer the question
#12
What's your current guitar?
You don't need a halfstack. why do you think you need one?
Just get a nice little tube combo. Screw the pedals and new guitar, spend your 550 bucks on a decent tube amp.
I got my peavey classic 50 w/JJ tubes for 500 bucks. There's plenty of great amp options in your budget.

Any halfstack for 550 bucks (or less, I don't know how much your parents plan on spending) is going to be a very very small upgrade from your current amp, but most likely a downgrade. Heck, you can't even get a marshall MG halfstack for that. That's already a downgrade.
You'll have to settle for an ibanez toneblaster, which I have no words for.

My current guitar is a Fender Strat knock off with a broken neck courtesy of my sister soo you can see the urgency on that and the reason im stressing the pedal and guitar is that Im getting a nice amp for free this christmas and I'm pretty patient (not doing shows or anything) so i figure i can wait on the amp
#14
But you haven't told us what amp you're getting.
Essentially stay away from Marshall MG's/AVT's (in fact, stay away from marshall in general for under a grand unless you go used)
Stay away from high wattage spiders (and the low wattage ones for that matter)
Essentially, unless the amp you're getting is a Jazz Chorus or Vetta/Flextone, stay away from solidstate.
Just make sure to go tube.
I'm not saying that tube is better, i'm just saying that there are alot of good tube amps out there, but not as many solidstates.

Get new amp. Don't get new guitar. Simple.

Why don't you get a new amp first and get a new guitar at Christmas?

That way, you don't have to worry about your parents buying you an MG or something.

Your not being rude, but we are trying to give you the best advice for your dollars. But, since your parents are buying you everything, there might not be a need to even bother. Get a Johnson Les Paul and an MG halfstack F4 T3H ULT1M4T3 BR00TALZ!!

Good luck, your gonna need it.

Here's my opinion on the matter:

I wouldn't get that guitar. If you want actives, i'd go with somthing like this:http://www.zzounds.com/item--SCEC1. If you can live without them, this is a good option: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Schecter-Damien-Special-Electric-Guitar-515744-i1386620.gc. It's sold with and without a floyd rose, whichever you prefer. Secondly, with that amp, active pickups will sound like crap.

As for amps, how much are you expecting to spend?

Alright. Well, can you just tell us what amp you will be getting? That's 90% of your tone right there.
Go for the guitar then.
Um... I don't know what kind of pedal you want? what kind do you want?
You mentioned that you wanted a wah, but it sounded like you wanted a multi effect.
It's a bad idea to mix in modeling effects with a modeling amp. Just go for an analogue wah. Just try some out at a store.

Ok I'm undecided on the amp and open to any advice for that I'm looking for the best value amp (perferably tube)

secondly im not sure wat active pickup (livewire thing) actually do however my friend is convinced tht they make a huge difference in sound
#22
Why do you need actives so bad?
Make sure to try both actives and passives.
Don't just get actives because all these shredders use them, get the ones which sound good for you.

id go for a new amp first... line 6 seems cool for awhile but there are many things wrong with em..... #1 solid state... nothing beats a good tube amp #2 they sound like ****.... gain is so fake the built in effects are cool but you know... whatever.... anyways to answer ur ques if u want a wah go for eather a crybaby or a vox..... orr you can get a Ibanex Weeping Demon wah.... they kick ass

Guys, read his post, his guitar is broken so a new amp isn't going to help him. He needs a new guitar.

As for a pedal, just get try out some Wah pedals at the store and see what you like. I wouldn't buy any effects pedals until you get your new amp and work out what you need from there.
