Hey everyone,

I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on how to write and play 60's style music, for example what sounds, instruments etc to use. Like the animals, the kinks, or more recently the foxboro hot tubs and panic at the disco.

Any input woud be great

if you want to write 60's style music, you will not learn from listening to greenday or panic! at the disco.

by the other bands you listed i'm assuming you mean 60's to 70's punk?

just listen to what those bands play and get a feel for it.

ok, lets forget i said panic for the moment,

ok, yea 60's, 70's rock they have a good effect with the gutiars, it sounds almost tinny but like a guitar should sound, its hard to explain im afraid

I would say you should just listen to a lot of 60's music that you like and keep it in mind when you're writing or improvising. That's what PATD did.

Twangy overdriven guitar sounds. Often twee, although it depends what bands you're looking at - Twee melody lines if you want the Beach Boys and early Beatles, dirty blues if you want the Stones or the Kinks.

Panic at the Disco is a 60's style band?

My sister has their most recent album. It has some '60s style to it.
