Get the Grindhouse films - Death Proof and Planet Terror. Watch Death Proof first, as you need to think a bit for that and listen to the script, by the ending and epic car chase you'll be slightly drunk and you'll be cheering avidly.

Then put on Planet Terror, drink more beer and scream in delight as head explode, and latina girls strip, and cars crash and zombies get shot.

The SAW films make me think alot. Especially the first one because it's the most psycological.
Also Primeval. It doesn't make you think but it's cool as hell. haha.

Kind of a chick flick, kind of not.

The Departed

OH MY GOD!! that movie blew my mind... at the end you're just like "WHAAAT?!?!?!?"

but still, it was an awesome movie.

I just finished watching American Gangster with denzel washington and russell crowe. I was also very impressed with that movie.

EDIT: I see that you've already decided on the Big Lebowski...but these two movies (The Departed and American Gangster) are still good ones to get some other day.
