Alright. I can't decide whether to upgrade my amp, or to mod my affinity strat.
My current amp is a Marshall Valvestate VS30r.

Mods I would plan to do on the squier:
New trem (in this case, a super-Vee)
New electronics
(Guitarfetish HH prewired pickguard)
So, What should I do?
Current Gear:
LTD MH-400 with Gotoh GE1996T (EMG 85/60)
PRS SE Custom 24 (Suhr SSH+/SSV)
Ibanez RG3120 Prestige (Dimarzio Titans)
Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz V
Audient iD22 interface
Peavey Revalver 4, UAD Friedman BE100/DS40
Adam S3A monitors

get a peavey valveking royal 8 and get the HH pickguard.
Ibanez Jem 777BK, Carvin DC727, Fender MIM Strat
Mesa Boogie DC5
Xotic BB Preamp, Ts9, BBE GS, Boss DD-6
Weber Mass
Morley Bad Horsie 2

Amp.

Amp will make a more profound change to your tone than guitar upgrades.

Have you ever thought of donating the money to the Moe foundation?

Amp, definitely an amp.

I trust moe. I'll look at amps, I was thinking the VK 112, the palomino v16, or the blackheart little giant. Which is most versatile on its own, AKA without an OD? I do anything from blues to metallica.

or buy a new guitar if u have a squier =\

it's actually not bad. It's made of decent wood, and I have no major problems with it.

if you really can't decide what to do with your money, you can give it to me! but seriously, amp. no matter how good your guitar is, it will sound bad through a crappy amp. i suggest a marshall mg 15dfx. i've had it for years and it sounds great. if you have the money, you can go for a bigger amp, but definately that series.

NO, that amp is HORRIBLE

I suggest the VK 112

That will do the best on its own compared to the other 2 amps you listed TC

However to really go into Metallica territory, you might need a slight od boost

Yeah, buy a marshall mg.

Your best bet, if looking for versatility, would be either the B-52 at-112, or the Valveking, and what not.
Not sure about the Blackheart though; you may just need an OD to pull off metallica with that.

Thats one of the funniest/worse piece of advice ive EVER heard

I like the idea of a new amp, and an HH pickguard setup (assuming you want that sound in your strat).

Something to consider: many strats arn't routed for HH...check under the hood to confirm. I have 4 strats with HSS routs, and 2 with SSS routs. You just gotta look and see.

I think the B-52 At is the best choice. It sounds better than a VK imo and the B-52 probably wont need an od to hit metallica
#19
VK can hit Metallica fine...

Unless you know what your guitar is made out of, and if it is actually considered "real" guitar wood, then don't upgrade it. In the end you will still have a piece o' crap guitar with lots of bling.

New amp? Sure, try a Vox Valvetronix. Go out to your store and try out some different models of the Vox Valvetronix. I find it they have a very unique, sweet sounding tone, on almost all models on the amp.
