Did you ever feel old despite the fact that you're still quite young?
Some months ago I was in Taekwon Do, and because I didn't train for like 6 months, I was practicing with the little kids. So we're doing push ups, and the trainer says something like "You're going to end up like Popeye"...
I was the only one that knew who Popeye is .

And some days ago I was talking with an 8 years old kid while I waited for my Taekwon Do class to begin (now I train with the adults), and I was telling him stuff like "You know, when I was just a little older than you, there were only 151 Pokemons ", and then a 24 years old guy arrived and we started to talk about quite old cartoons and the times when we were little kids ... Also made me feel old.
EDIT: I'm 19 years old now.

Did that stuff happen to you too?

I feel old when I say that I am old.

Every time I am in the presence of little kids, this thought always pops into my mind.

"...this child does not remember the '90s."

I feel so old.
#8
I'm 14 and I feel old whenever I am around younger kids.

I don't understand their sense of humor at all.

Ha.....your pokemon thing makes you sound really old. I remember them....just don't present it to little kids as old person sounding as you did :] ha
#10
... How many pokemon are there now? I lost count after 151, didn't it go to like 251? And I don't really talk to little kids, so I havn't had the chance to feel old (I'm only 15 mind you), but the idea that I could be going to university part time in less than 2 years scares the hell out of me.

I realised the other day that the tv show "Doug" is almost 17 years old.

Now, I'm 17, so it REALLY shouldn't seem like the show is that old, but in TV years, 17 years is a long time, seeing as it's only around 50 years old (in terms of licensed TV channels).

It just kind of made me feel old, for some reason, to think that the shows I grew up with are as old as I am.

i was in a McDonald's today (laugh all you want, it was in a convenient location ), and i was just sitting there waiting for my order, and i overheard this conversation between a dad and his kid.

Dad: "so do you want to keep playing soccer?"
kid: "no"
Dad: "you want to quit?"
kid: "no"
Dad: "but you said you didn't want to keep playing..."
kid: "i don't wanna talk about it leave me alone"
Dad: "but i have to know if you don't want to keep playing, so i can decide if i'm going to force you to play or let you quit. when i was watching you today, you didn't seem like you wanted to play anymore, it looked like you weren't trying."

...i could hardly keep from laughing. i just remembered how important little community sports teams were to me when i was younger. it seemed normal back then that a parent would be so serious about it. now, it just seems ridiculous that a parent could become so involved in such a small pointless hobby...he's not going pro or anything...

My mind is going. I can feel it.

I swear I've see this thread before... anyway ya it happens all the time, I volunteer at a rec center, and some of the kids havent seen the first Pokemon season, and think Dawn or whatever her name is, is better than Misty.
#17
hahaha I bought the first Pokemon card starter booster pack
and I think I still have the Machamp card somewhere...

ah wow yeah It's wierd when I realize I'm as old as power rangers

It seems like the newest seasons are just catering to the ADD generation
(which is what this generation of younger kids is becoming, if you've ever spent 5 minutes with them or watched any of the new kids' shows)

None of us wanted to play tag anymore. We played two-hand touch football, themed games (Star Wars, etc. but we were more in depth with it), and my favorites, Four Square and Wall Ball.

Wall Ball got BRUTAL almost.

We would stand at this chain link fence while we played it, so when we tried to move out of the way, sometimes we would get caught on the tops of the links, and would be wailed on by the ball.

Good times.

In fifth grade, I played Tackle football after school sometimes. Two-hand touch sucks butt sex. Yeah.

@ Regression: According to wiki, there are currently 493 pokemon.

Holy crap! I feel sorry for kids these days, how are you meant to catch them all when there are so many?

Hell I couldn't even catch the first 151, Snorlax always broke out of my Master Ball.

Well, we would have played tackle, but the teachers were always in plain view, and none of us really stayed after school to play games, we just went home, where our Playstations anbd N64s were.

The most "violent" thing we did after school was have crab apple wars. That was like paintball for elementary school.

It was fun as hell, though. Bases, stockpiles, rivals, and bruises. Amazing stuff.

Well, all 493 aren't in one game.

Like in Ruby and Sapphire, they kept a good many of the original 151, and a bunch from additional 100 added in Gold and Silver, and THEN added the all new Ruby/Sapphire pokemon, but they kept the number lower, and managable.

I can't remember the number exactly. You should be able to go here and find out:

The last of the cartridges are for Gameboy Advance, because, technically, DS games aren't cartridges, they're flash cards.

Sad thought, huh?

And we were in 4th/5th grade when we played it.

We were all tactical and such, as well. We were all starting to get more in Rainbow Six, and spies and whatnot, so we would go in squads, and use hand signals, and just ambush the other team with crab apples piled in out shirt tails.

The sad part? We never played Capture the Flag. It never really occured to us. Now THAT would have made things ever better.

EDIT: Also, they weren't THAT big. They were about the size of a large paintball.

Not the size of apples, or, as you put it, baseballs. But they were almost as hard, I can tell you that.

I was watching mickey mouse with my nephew. Apparently pete has befriended mickey. They used to be super huge enemies and now they're like, best buds.

EDIT: Playing dodge ball on a hot summer day. It's occurred to me that no one under 13 is going to experience the glory of dodgeball now that it's been outlawed.

But now they are well versed in the ways of Thundercats, Dino Riders, and low grade channel 5 softcore porn.

That's it...... That's IT!

All (modern day) emos start out with recess deprevation.

When was the last time you saw an elementary school emo kid? Sure, you see negative kids, but they're never EMO. If there was recess in all levels of school, emos would not exist!
