Hey,
Well, I'm almost sure that I want to get these certain amps.
A pair of silverfaces.
One of them is a 1968 bassman. I have heard that silverfaces from this era are identical to the blackface's circuitry. Is this true or not?
Also, do you think it's worth the extra cash to just order a 1967 just to be sure?
I found a few 1967's elsewhere on the interwebz.
The other is a 70's quad reverb, but i'm not sure on that one yet.

But, just when did silverfaces break away from the blackface circuitry exactly?
Do you think I should be safe with the 68, or do you think I should play it safe and go for a 67?

There's an actual true 67 blackface head(actual blackface frontplate) for only a few hundred bucks more. Do you think this is even safer?
Call me Wes.

They changed the circuitry in '68 so they don't sound quite like a Blackface. If you get one that's made prior to '76, you could probably get a Blackface conversion or something. It probably won't sound exactly like a Blackface because you can't change everything like wiring composition and lead dressing and what not.

^So you think I should play it safe and go with a 67?
There's a couple for quite reasonable prices on the web by a very legit looking store (i'm emailing the guy now). Plus, looks like he swapped out the caps for me.
they're in 100% better shape than the ones at my local store too.

^Alright.
The 67 will end up being a couple hundred more bucks than the 68 halfstack at my local store, but it'll end up being worth it.
Plus, it doesn't even take up half my budget.

Do you think I should go for a 2x15 cab setup or a 4x12?
What setup do you think will give a good SRV tone?
And what make/model?

also, there's a normal 67 blackface bassman from the same seller for like a grand opposed to the 700 dollar silverface 67.
Do you think it'd be better just to get the blackface?
Here are the links to both:

Blackface 67: http://www.birddogbobby.com/geardetail.asp?id=BA003
Silverface 67: http://www.birddogbobby.com/geardetail.asp?id=BA011

I don't think the blackface has had maintenance done though.

You know, know that I thinkk about it. I don't think it really matters very much because I believe the only amps that were really altered were the Twin Reverb and Super Reverb. Things like the Bassmans and the Deluxes were only cosmetic changes methinks.

EDIT: NEW AVATAR!!! ^

^^MMM... Like an old vintage car.
But, what's so cool, is I have the budget for a stinking 'nother amp after I get the bassman and cab. Unless I blow my amp budget with getting a cab loaded with celestion blues or something.
Maybe I should get a VJ to mod with the leftover dough.

^I thought every model except the champs and princetons where changed.
Anyways, It's worth the extra 200 bucks to make extra sure.
Plus, the 67 is in much better shape than the 68 at my store.
It'll probably end up being worth more in the future because of it too.

^Yeah.
It's so stereotypical to see someone with a big marshall cab.
I was actually thinking of getting my store's used bad cat 2x12. It'll be nice since the speakers are already broken in probably, and I don't have to worry about shipping.
Bad Cat makes some major badass amps, so I would kind of assume that their cabs would be pretty good too.
