It seems like whenever a book is adapted into a motion picture (especially if it's a famous one), all people do is talk about how much better the book is then the movie. And now I ask this, are there any instances where you've ended up liking the movie better then the book?

I have been reading Short Cuts, which is a collection of nine short stories and a poem by Raymond Carver and was made into a movie directed by Robert Altman, and I like the movie as much or better then the stories. I liked how the movie weaved the stories in and out of each other and loodely connected them (the original stories weren;e connected at all). And I also liked how Altman took creative liberties and made the stories his own, while maintaining the spirit of Carver's style.

I'm going to get raped by the fanboys for this, but I liked the LOTR movie more than the books. Same with my parents. The books were just too slow. And we all read a lot.

+100. I read all the books (including the Hobbit) and I liked the movies much better.
I've decided that my signature is terrible. I'm open to suggestions.

Also, the books that come AFTER a movie are usually horrible.

I found the book incredibly boring.

I tend to like movies then the book they are based on.

However, books are always better than the movie based on them.

Hmm... At the top of my head it would have to be One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. I thought the book was good but Jack Nicholson completely brought the movie to life in my opinion.
