It should work. Your missing one very important part of tom delonge's guitar: a smug superiority complex.

But seriously, you have all the parts you need if you know how to assemble them.

Please don't take it to a "custom guitar shop" just for that... Seriously. You'ra talking about 13 phillips head screws, one press-fit knob and a handful of solder joints.

It's fair enough if you don't wanna do the refinishing, but the rest should be easy as balls.

However, it boggles me that you'd buy a guitar that for all intents and purposes is a prefectly decent/excellent and turn it into a simple gain machine.

Totally doable for someone with no experince at all. Jsut get yourself a screwdriver and a soldering iron (under $20)

I would just get a Hello Kitty strat and mod that. It would make more sense (pickup cavity wise) and would not waste a decent guitar.

Oh well, now the empty shell of what used to be chocolaty goodness can contain a tasty guitar circuit.

Surely buying the Delogne strat would be cheaper in the first place?

My thoughts exactly.

Another thing, the link you gave is for the wrong pickup--the Delonge strat has an Invader in it.

!! to every1.

first, i cant buy a tom delonge strat my parents wont let me buy a used guitar.
seconnd, ive never customized anything in my life.
and third, i just want a simple light cool looking guitar.
and fourth, from what ive heard the invader sucks... so im thinking the SH-5 as a replacement for that for better tone

EDit: or....
if some1 would be as nice as to tell me how to freakin solder and line up 500k pots and knobs and sh*t.

thanks!

take the soldering iron and then the soldering metal, lower it towards the joint and then shove it up ur ass.

hope this helps.

P.s by the Tom Delonge good condition, then tell your parents its new

cant dude i dont have a credit card.................................................

What's wrong with the guitar how it is? Does it have to be like the Tom Delonge stratocaster? The stock strat probably sounds better.
#19
Wow, dude...

this makes no sense.

Go read a book about it, watch a couple videos on youtube, and you'll know how to solder, sand, refinish, etc.
Don't waste a nice guitar... what's the point of that?

From what you've read, the Invader sucks!? You mean in all your time on the internet you haven't figured out that Tom Delonge's tone, playing, and guitar all suck?

Go find some porn. The internet has nothing left for you.

give him a break guys he probably only ten years old...

go learn how to jerk off before you come back here

Why not just get the HSS strat and replace the bridge with the SH-5. It'll have more versatility than the Tom Delonge strat.

If want to learn how to solder... Google it!

The Tom Delonge strat looks pathetic THB. It has one bad pickup and that is it. Where as, the HSS strat has miles more versatility and the pickups will be decent.

instead of buying a fender and spending $300+, buy a Squier Strat for under a $100, everthing should still fit. might want to also buy a new neck.

Sorry, is it me, or are you all being unbelievably critical and harsh?

While i agree that the delonge strat is ****, and that his playing is **** and that he is an egotistical bastard. Does someone suggesting they kinda do a half copy of his guitar warrant comments like 'go learn how to jerk off before you come back here'?

Not really IMO, evidently TS has never worked with guitars before, and he wants to start, whats wrong with that? Surely we weren't all custom making Koa veneered hollowbodies as our first build? Its like suggesting that rather than making a simple fuzz face, he wires up a JTM45 Bluesbreaker, because the fuzz face is not as good.

But, mate, it will be cheaper buying the delonge strat, and why not incorporate elements of it into a better guitar? maybe stick some lovely sounding P90's in there aswell. Thus giving you a slight amount of tonal variation, i can give draw you up wiring diagrams if you so wish.

Or, better still, do what me and my bassist do and buy a standard fender (they play just as well as the high end ones, i'd say my strat is better than alot of the american deluxe's) and rip out the electrics and put new ones in, you will get a much better tone, in my experience, the high end fenders have **** electronics, and a ridiculous pricetag, so changing the electronics in a standard gets you a better tone than the high end ones for about half the price.

I fully support what you are doing, but think that you could do a bit of changing around and get a much better tone.

PM me if you need wiring layouts or any help

A refreshing view, good on you, I agree with this guy. It would not make any sense to make this guitar when you could buy a tom delonge strat. If you're insistant on modding a strat, why not start with a squier or other cheap knockof? replace the neck, electronics, learn to pain etc? < just a thought

Well if you don't want his tone don't buy his amp.

Then you wont 'freakin' get his tone.

Oh god..
You didn't, 'retard'.
If you followed what I was on about you would've understood that you not having his amp wont get his tone.

As I said, you not having his amp will give you a different tone to his even if you did use his guitar.
So next time think before calling somebody a retard, especially if they've had more experience with things like this than you.

Not a Delonge fan, but i beleive your using the wrong pickup?

Dosen't he use an invader?

Like I said, you said you didn't want his tone.
Considering you don't have his amp, even if you use his signature guitar, you wont have anything close to his tone..

Dude, you have WAY TOO MUCH to learn..
The Amp equates for 80% or more of your tone, so stop saying you wont buy his actual guitar because you don't want his actual tone..

I think his point was he didnt want the tone, so really you're being pointless and just trying to bash this guy.

Personally, i agree with the strat idea. Just buy a high end squire, or a normal strat and put in a new pickguard with HSS from guitar fetish or something. Or buy a HSS pickguard and put in your own humbuckers and single coils for whatever tone you want.
