what are good amp setting for sweep picking?

i can never get my guitar to sound like the sweepers who do it well.
#2
turn down the distortion a bit. If my distortion is turned up all the way from playing some Megadeth or something, I'll try sweeping and it will sound like a dying baby seal.

Turn down the gain, up the mids/bass and cut the treble a tiny bit, use the neck pickup, and add in a tiny bit of delay (if you have it) to thicken your tone.

1. turn down gain maybe a little bit, not too much perhaps, i generally dont
2. turn down bass a bit
3.MIDS make sweeps lush IMO, if you scoop usually, i suggest going the other way and boosting them a little bit
4. oh, not an amp setting but you could try using your neck pickup, usually makes them sound nicer

Delay!?

That doesn't thicken your tone, it makes your sound a complete mess with no note definition.

Alright, I'll give them a try, Japanese Black Speed rarely disappoints.

Hmm judging from your pic you'd fit in more with a fat busted tribute.

Try playing cleanly. And use less distortion/bass.

Just answered your own question.

Otherwise, less gain.
#9
don't use delay. DONT USE DELAY. unless you're a math and musical genius and you time the repeats to the exact milisecond. like duncang said.. you will not have any note definition. when you're playing notes quickly, it's very difficult to use delay properly. I suggest reverb, maybe a bit of chorus if you want to experiment?
#11
Reverb average
Small chorus
Small Gain
Less or More Bass
Less treble
No delay
High Mid

i miss anything?

If someone who sweeps pretty well can post their amp settings, that would help

first pickup (closest to the neck)

Well I don't know about solos but how about that Smoke on the Water riff. It's like...impossible.

i use the neck pickup for my sweeping. gives it sort of a slurring sound.
