Hey,
I'm finally winding down on my search for an amp.
And a vintage (BF or early SF era) fender bassman is one of my better choices.
Well, bassmans are the most common around my area, and they have better prices.
Anyways, what tone (like what song or artist) could I associate a bassman with?
I haven't had a chance to go out and try them yet at my local store, since I haven't really found a chance to go yet. I'm going to try them out, but what can I expect the tone to be like?

Thanks!
Call me Wes.

From pictures I've seen, Townshend used blonde Bassmen, and SRV used tweeds. Very different amps. I don't know about Healey.

^The tweeds are much earlier.
I was just wondering. Is it a safe guess to assume that it's like a super reverb or similar, just "ballsier" so to speak? Like, more bass, maybe a little bit less gain?

^Hopefully tomorrow.
I'm gonna spend all day there.
Providing that I spend all day doing homework today and get it all done.
I'm going to try my other choices too (vibroverb custom, 66 super reverb, blues box).
I'll make a report once I get back.

The blackface has less mids, a stiffer feel, and a muddier low end.

go to my profile and listen to the song "light a fire."
thats a SF Bassman. Strat into an od which just was a boost, into the amp on about 8. bridged so i played through both channels at once. that is pretty much what the beast sounds like.

^Alright.
Thank you very much!

What pickup (neck/mid/bridge) were you using in that song?
