Hey,

A friend of mine just sent me an mp3, which supposedly features Deep Purple playing Black Magic Woman, but it sounds suspiciously much like the Fleetwood Mac version (it just sounds like Fleetwood Mac)
Can anyone confirm if DP ever covered the song?

does your friend download? cause if so its probably not an actual copy of deep purple, im not actually sure if they did do a cover but i know if you download you can come up with some weird stuff...like cocaine by jimi hendrix...which actually is by cream, and stuff like that

I don't think DP ever covered it.

But Fleetwood Mac did originally WRITE the song, then Santana became famous from covering it.

Probably Fleetwood Mac. When you download songs a lot of people put the wrong band.
