Been listening to a crapload of Southern Rock lately and im looking for more out of the genre. Ive already got Every Time I Die, The Showdown and Maylene and the Sons of Diaster, any others i should know about???

Dude those newer bands are okay, but seriously please listen to some of the bands that created southern rock so you can hear what it REALLY sounds like. And listen to some Blackfoot to, they added some of the more heavy elements that you're probably used to with those newer acts.

Personally out of those you listed Maylene is the only one that I'd classify as southern rock. These days all the kids think that if you do a bend on a guitar and the singer has a whiny tone that a band is 'southern.' Evidence to the dismal state of musicianship in that whole 'scene.'
We're only strays.

Lol, you're listening to every band that I was gonna suggest.

Why not go totally southern and start listening to some Bluegrass?
#14
Allman Brothers.

How is Down southern rock?
and how are any of those bands you listed southern rock?

I'm going through this phase, too. I listen to "Flirtin' With Disaster" about 200 times a day

Nice on the Allman Brothers Band.

And I would say that Down is Southern Metal, so they work.

Why not add some blues? Like The Black Keys, Otis Rush, Albert King and Buddy Guy? And The Fabulous Thunderbirds and The Edgar Winter Group?

You CANNOT forget about Stevie Ray Vaughn

Plus Great Southern and the Outlaws.

Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds. Yeah, Izzy used to play for Gn'R, but you'd be surprised at how different his stuff is.

I'm sorry but none of those bands qualify as Southern Rock.
