and it's a really, REALLY cheap nameless nylon string guitar that had steel strings on it, and i'm planning on giving it an über psychedelic paint job on it, and i need to know what i can use to get rid of the finish off so i can paint over it w/ some acrylic paint or nail polish (whichever i find first). so yeah...would nail polish remover get rid of the finish on the guitar?

don't get near it with nail polish remover.

just sand it with some 400 grit sandpaper to rough it up and use the existing finish as a base.

Lol, nailpolish remover. Good one. Use 400-600 grit sandpaper.
