I have a really great riff and I'm using it for the intro to my song but I need a way to spice it up and make it a bit longer.
I've tried throwing in power chords. I've messed around with playing the riff and then playing a lick or two with higher notes.
Any suggestions??

Thanks.

start off simple, then play it through a few times and think to yourslef 'what can i put in there to make it better/more technical' etc.

Trust me, might seem obvious but you'd be surprised. Start with the basics

what i do when i'm in this situation...as i am often when writing riffs for my band....all i do is keep playing the riff and just improvising and adding stuff on...eventually you'll find that magic...lol

it works differently for everyone but for me i cant overthink it...i just let it flow...alot of metal players just think 'ok how can i make this heavier and more technical' and they forget about how the riff actually sounds and feel behind it...
i need a bishop preaching fire to get away with my sins...i despise everything i see so i dont give a fuck if ya HATE ME!
